How do I change file permission? You can modify permission to any of your files or folders within your website via your hosting control panel. The steps are as follows:
Plesk 8.x or older
| 1) | Log into your hosting control panel at http://admin.yourdomain.ca. |
| 2) | Click directly on the domain name at the bottom of the page. |
| 3) | Click on the "File Manager" icon under the "Hosting" section. |
| 4) | Click on the "\httpdocs" directory. |
| 5) | Click on the yellow padlock icon associated with the target file or folder. |
| 6) | Select the user "IUSR_npxxxxx" (npxxxxx is your FTP username) and modify the permission as desired. The user "IUSR_npxxxxx" is the Windows user that corresponds to Internet visitors who are browsing your website. |
| 7) | Click "OK" and confirm the permission chanage. |
Plesk 9.x
| 1) | Log into your hosting control panel at http://admin.yourdomain.ca. |
| 2) | Click on the "Domain" icon and then click on the domain name. |
| 3) | Click on the "File Manager" icon under the "Files" section. |
| 4) | Click on the "\httpdocs" directory. |

Plesk 10.x

| 2) | Select the desired domain from the "Subscription" drop down box at the top right corner (only if you have multiple domains). |
| 3) | Click on the "Websites & Domains" tab. |
| 4) | Click on the "File Manager" icon. |
| 5) | Click on the "\httpdocs" directory. |
| 6) | Click on the yellow padlock icon associated with the target file or folder. |
| 7) | Select the user "IUSR_npxxxxx" (npxxxxx is your FTP username) and modify the permission as desired. The user "IUSR_npxxxxx" is the Windows user that corresponds to Internet visitors who are browsing your website. |
| 8) | Click "OK" and confirm the permission chanage. |
IMPORTANT!
 | Changing permission of your website files or folders may cause your website not to load properly or at all. Permission changes sometime cause irreversible effect and are meant for expert users to perform. User should proceed with caution. |
