How do I transfer a dot-ca domain from another registrar to Namespro.ca? This process is called a registRAR transfer for dot-ca domains. The steps are as follows:
| 2) | We initiate the transfer for the user, which will invoke CIRA's system (dot-ca registry) to send a confirmation e-mail to the admin contact e-mail address. |
| 3) | This confirmation e-mail requests the admin contact to login to his/her CIRA account (https://registrants.cira.ca/user) with his/her own private CIRA password. Within 7 days, the admin contact must click on an "approve" button to authorize the transfer. |
| 4) | CIRA notifies us regarding the approved transfer status. |
| 5) | We attach the domain to the user's Namespro.ca account. |
Note
 | The whole process can take anywhere from a few minutes to 7 days to complete depending how promptly the admin contact logs into his/her CIRA account in step 3. |
 | When the 7 day period is over, the transfer will time out itself. We will then send you a ticket and retry the transfer attempt for you. |
 | The CIRA confirmation e-mail is simply a notice. The key point to approve the transfer is your CIRA password, which is necessary to complete step 3. |
 | If you do not have access to your current admin contact e-mail address because it is out-of-date, you will not be able to retrieve your CIRA password. Our suggestion is to first perform a search in your e-mail archive to look for your CIRA password, which was sent to you when you first registered your domain. If there is no result, you then need to contact your current registrar to perform a CIRA MCAC (Manual Change of Admin Contact) process. This process requires completing an official CIRA form and faxing it to your current registrar. You can find the official CIRA document at http://www.cira.ca/en/cat_Registrar.html. |
