KB-2008

I can receive e-mails but cannot send. What is the problem?

It is likely that the default SMTP port (25) is being blocked by your ISP. Please try to connect to your SMTP server (mail.yourdomain.ca) using port 2525.

To explain the situation, ISPs such as Telus, Rogers, Bell and Sympatico are blocking access to port 25 in order to fight spam. As a result, users on their networks will not be able to send mail using an external SMTP server. To combat this action, Namespro.ca provides an alternative port (2525) for our users. There is a setting in your e-mail client where you can specify an alternative SMTP port. You should consult the help documents of your e-mail client for more information. Normally, it is under the "Advanced settings" section of your mail account.
