How do I create FTP sub-accounts? Your master FTP login allows you to access all files under your Windows hosting plan. There are 2 other ways to provide FTP access to your users:
i) More flexible option
You can grant a user access to any folder under your httpdocs directory. The steps are as follows:
Plesk 8.x or older
 | a. | Create the target FTP folder via your main FTP connection (or via the "File Manager" icon within your Windows hosting control panel). |
 | b. | Log into your Windows hosting control panel at http://admin.yourdomain.ca. |
 | c. | Click directly on the domain name at the bottom of the page. |
 | d. | Click on the "FTP Accounts" icon or the "FTP Management" icon under the "Hosting" section. |
 | e. | Create a new FTP sub-account by specifying the target folder. |
 | f. | Once created, the new FTP sub-account name and password can be used to connect to your FTP server at ftp.yourdomain.ca. |
Plesk 9.x
 | a. | Create the target FTP folder via your main FTP connection (or via the "File Manager" icon within your Windows hosting control panel). |
 | b. | Log into your Windows hosting control panel at http://admin.yourdomain.ca. |
 | b. | Click on the "Domain" icon and then click on the domain name. |
 | d. | Click on the "FTP Accounts" icon under the "Files" section. |
 | e. | Click on the "Add New FTP Accounts" icon. |
 | f. | Create a new FTP account by specifying the target folder. |
 | g. | Once created, the new FTP account name and password can be used to connect to your FTP server at ftp.yourdomain.ca. |
Plesk 10.x
 | a. | Create the target FTP folder via your main FTP connection (or via the "File Manager" icon within your Windows hosting control panel). |
 | b. | Log into your Windows hosting control panel at http://admin.yourdomain.ca. |
 | c. | Select the desired domain from the "Subscription" drop down box at the top right corner (only if you have multiple domains). |
 | d. | Click on the "Websites & Domains" tab. |
 | e. | Click on the "FTP Access" icon. |
 | f. | Click on the "Create Additional FTP Account" icon. |
 | g. | Create a new FTP account by specifying the target folder and enter the necessary information. |
 | h. | Once created, the new FTP account name and password can be used to connect to your FTP server at ftp.yourdomain.ca. |
ii) More control option
You can create a "Web user" for each user that requires FTP access. They will be uploading their files to the directory "/web_users/" under your root directory. A sample directory structure with 3 "web users" will look like: ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ /.. /web_users/.. /web_users/user1/ /web_users/user2/ /web_users/user3/ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
To proceed with this option, the steps are as follows:
Plesk 8.x or older

 | b. | Click directly on the domain name at the bottom of the page. |
 | c. | Click on the "Web Users" icon under the "Hosting" section. |
 | d. | Create a new "Web user" by entering the desired name. |
 | e. | Once created, the new Web user's name and password can be used to connect to your FTP server at ftp.yourdomain.ca. |
 | f. | As a side note, each "Web user" has a default personal webpage and the URL is http://www.yourdomain.ca/~webusername. |
Plesk 9.x
 | a. | Log into your Windows hosting control panel at http://admin.yourdomain.ca. |
 | b. | Click on the "Domain" icon and then click on the domain name. |
 | c. | Click on the "Web Users" icon under the "Web Site" section. |
 | d. | Click on the "Add New Web User" icon. |
 | e. | Create a new "Web user" by entering the desired name. |
 | f. | Once created, the new Web user's name and password can be used to connect to your FTP server at ftp.yourdomain.ca. |
 | g. | As a side note, each "Web user" has a default personal webpage and the URL is http://www.yourdomain.ca/~webusername. |
