KB-4008

I do not want my domain any more. What should I do?

Normally if a user does not wish to renew a domain, the user will simply ignore all renewal notices and do nothing. The domain will be let expired on the expiry date and enter into suspension. After the suspension period (typically 30~45 days), the domain will be deleted from the registry and be released to the public.

If you would like to the domain to be cancelled/deleted from the registry immediately for any reason, please send us a ticket via our online support system with the following information:

Action = Domain deletion

Domain name =

Reason for cancellation =

We will then submit the request to the corresponding registry for you. For dot-ca domains, it is necessary for the admin contact to go through a double confirmation with CIRA in order for the cancellation to take place. More information would be provided in the ticket if this is the case.

Note

Registries do not refund the cost of registration if the user decides to cancel a domain name before it expires. This policy in turns prevents us from issuing a refund to the user when a cancellation request is made.
