How do I transfer a non-dot-ca domain (com/net/org/biz/info/etc.) from another registrar to Namespro.ca?

This process is called a registRAR transfer for non-dot-ca domains. The steps are as follows:

1)User confirms a transfer order on our website (http://www.namespro.ca/Transfer).

2)Upon the completion of the check out process, user will be instructed to click on "my transfers" on the left menu. The pending transfer will be displayed.

3)User must perform 2 simple actions in order to initiate the transfer. The first action is to obtain the authorization code from the losing registrar. The second action is to request the domain to be unlocked by the losing registrar.

4)Once both actions are completed, user can enter the authorization code on the "my transfers" page and click "submit" to proceed.

5)Our system and on-screen instructions will guide the user through the selection or creation of a receiving registrant and then submit the transfer to the central registry.

6)The registry will notify us regarding this transfer 5-7 days after the initial transfer submission.

7)The domain will be attached to the user's Namespro.ca account if the transfer is successful, normally after the 5-7 day wait period.

Note

Your current registrar is the only party who can unlock the domain and provide you with the authorization code.

You can find out who your official registrar is through Versign's WHOIS query at http://registrar.verisign-grs.com/whois/ or 3rd party WHOIS queries such as http://whois.domaintools.com/. Please be advised that your domain may be managed by a domain reseller, and they are the first party that you should contact.

Since Mid 2010s, there is no longer any transfer confirmation email sent in a registRAR transfer process. User can initiate and complete the transfer directly from the "my transfers" page within their Namespro.ca account, which is a proprietary tool built by our own engineers.

You can speed up the transfer and skip the 5-7 day wait period by contacting the losing registrar and have them push through the transfer explicitly. This is an optional step, but any competent registrar will have systems in place to fulfill your request.

In the rare case that an error occurs during the transfer process, our support team will be alerted and a support ticket will be created automatically to follow up on the error.
